Mel is a Brooklyn-based Boricua fashion designer and artist whose work uses fashion to challenge dominant narratives and support decolonial futures. Her research-driven practice explores and experiments with alternatives to the fashion industrial complex through upcycling, biomaterial innovation, skill-sharing, and relationship-building.

Mel’s recent project, $TICKY $IN$, was commissioned for Open Call: Portals at The Shed. She debuted her thesis collection, Everything for Everybody, at NYFW SS24 at the Brooklyn Museum. She is a Parsons MFA alum, CFDA Scholar, and Teen Vogue Generation Next designer. ★
